 | | | National Welsh of Cardiff was part of the National Bus Company. Acquired all of Red and White's vehicles in 1978 as a result of NBC's merger of Red and White and Western Welsh. Most of this companies RELHs were eventually repainted into NBC local bus livery. The majority of the later ones also had there destinations equipment rebuilt to allow them to be used on express and local bus services. Several of these also gained MAP inspired vinyls such as 'Beaconsedge', 'Gwent Vales', 'Trans-Glam' and 'Cynon-Dare'. National Welsh started off using the Red and White numbering system which is difficult for computers to cope with, it also showed enthusiasm for renumbering! Therefore the fleet list will look better sorted by registration number. Whilst the company became one of very few former National Bus companies to actually close down, most of its former operations are now part of the Stagecoach group.
