The history of AFM 103 G – Part 6 : Bristol Greyhound (Jan 2008 – May 2009)
2008 started with a trip over to Winchester for the King Alfred running day, meeting up with another ex Crosville RELH – AFM106G.
After that, on 6th March, it revisited one of its old homes in Liverpool.
On 18th May 2008 it attended the Bristol Harbourside rally, celebrating 100 years of Bristol built buses.
On 24th May it took part in a run from Cheltenham via Leominster to the Talyllyn railway at Tywyn after which it took part in the Tom Rolt Rally.
8th June 2008 saw AFM enjoying the sun at CTPG’s Barry rally.
On 22nd June it was off to Weymouth for its second visit to the Weymouth Vintage bus running day.
The 8th Stroud Running Day was the agenda for the 29th June 2008.
A new event for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire railway on the 6th July was a bus rally on the same day as their diesel day. This included rides out to Broadway.
2nd August saw a visit to the Kemble Steam Show and the 10th August was the Bristol Vintage Bus Group/Avon Valley Railway Rally.
On the 24th August it was off to the BAMMOT Transport Museum at Wythall, then off to Merthyr Tydfil on the 7th September for Bus and Coach Wales.
Westpoint, near Exeter was the destination on the 21st September for the West Country Historic Omnibus & Transport Trust’s rally.
On the 28th September AFM103G again visited Showbus at Duxford, Cambridgeshire. This time it was involved in the ‘Bristol 100’ Gold Run onto the site in the morning.
12th October saw a combination of events, first a run from Bristol to Marlborough to celebrate 100 years of Bristol built buses. This was followed by a visit to the ‘mini’ Warminster running day.
AFM’s reluctance to get up on the cold morning of 1st Jan 2009 put paid to an intended trip to Winchester, however on the 1st March it managed to attend the first Bournemouth Aviation Museum Transport Day at Hurn near Bournemouth.
On the 5th April 2009 AFM attended the LBPT‘s annual gathering at Wisley.
Early May involved a long trip to the Llandudno Transport Festival, travelling via Betws y Coed, Pen y Gwryd and Ogwen Cottage.
