The history of AFM 103 G – Part 7 : Bristol Greyhound (May 2009 onwards)

On the 17th May a much more local rally was attended at Bristol Harbourside.
June the 3rd saw AFM visiting Herefordshire, The Brecon Beacons and the Wye Valley.
On the 14th June it was off to South Wales again to celebrate 80 years of Western Welsh and the opening of the Bus Depot in Barry.
A busy weekend saw AFM running between Cheltenham and Wells as part of a ‘Royal Blue’ run on the 20th June, then down to Weymouth for the Weymouth Vintage Bus running day on the 21st.
28th June was the Stroud running day, including a run out to Minchinhampton.
Toddington was the destination on the 12th July for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire railway‘s bus rally.
The first of August was a short trip up to Kemble for the Kemble Steam Show, then the longer journey on the 2nd August to Stokes Bay near Gosport for the Provincial Society Bus Rally.
On the 9th August AFM attended the Bristol Vintage Bus Group/Avon Valley Railway Rally, then on the 12th it ran between Taunton and Cheltenham as part of the Royal Blue Penzance – Aberdeen run.
On the 31st of August a visit was made to the Pontypool and Blaenavon railway‘s transport event, then on the 6th September AFM103G set off for Dorset to attend the Wessex Transport Society’s rally at Swanage.
On the 27th September AFM103G again made the long trek across to Showbus, this time it was possible to line up all the remaining vehicles that carry the ‘Bristol Greyhound’ livery.
The final rally of the season was to celebrate 60 years of ‘Buses’ magazine at Wroughton near Avebury.
The first day of 2010 saw a cold journey to Winchester for the King Alfred running day, including runs on the vehicle display shuttle and out to Sutton Scotney.

Hurn airport was visited again on the 7th March for the Bournemouth Aviation Museum Transport Day. This was followed by several weeks off the road whilst one of its cross members was replaced.Then it was off to London on the 17th April for a special visit; 85 years since Bristol Greyhound had started express coach services.
The Llandudno Transport Festival was visited again in May, including a stop off at the Horseshoe Pass.
On the 16th May a visit was made to the Bristol Harbourside rally which was followed by the need for repairs to its suspension. Following this was the longer trip to Chatsworth House for the Chatsworth Preserved Bus Gathering on 13th June 2010.
The 20th June then saw AFM make its 4th visit to the Weymouth Vintage bus running day.
